Direct Video Feed From Nest Cam
Share Nest camera live video
If you want other people to access your Google Nest camera or doorbell's live video stream, there are a few ways you can share it without giving them your account email and password for the app (never share your password with anybody).
The most common way is to invite a new member with the Home app or with Family Accounts in the Nest app.
Older cameras controlled with the Nest app have a couple more ways to share video: with a password-protected link or with a public link. If you'd like to share your camera's video with other people but don't want to share access to your home and all the devices in it, you can share your camera's video publicly or with a password-protected link.
Differences between camera sharing methods
Sharing method | What's shared | View live stream | View video history | Alerts | Control cameras |
Nest family or Google home member | All cameras (and other products in the home) | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes (and other products in the home) |
Public link (Nest app cameras only) | Cameras managed with Nest app | Yes | No | No | No |
Link with password (Nest app cameras only) | Cameras managed with Nest app | Yes | No | No | No |
Share your camera with an app invitation
Important: People who share access to your home with the Home or Nest app can control and access all the Google Nest products in your home. They'll be able to change settings, remove products from your account and more, so only share with people who you trust.
- Send an invitation to your home with the Home app or Nest app to people you want to share your camera's video feed.
- Once they accept your invitation, they can view the live video stream of all the cameras you have in your home. They can also get any alerts for motion, sound and more. If the camera has a Nest Aware subscription, they'll be able to view its recorded video history.
Share your video stream with a public or private link (Nest app only)
These instructions apply only to cameras and doorbells that are managed in the Nest app.

Note:If you don't see Settings, increase the size of your window to reveal it. - ClickCamera sharing.
- Select a sharing option:
- Share with password: This lets specific people view your camera's live stream. They'll need the link to your camera and enter the password you set. Up to 10 people can view your video stream simultaneously.
Note: The password needs to be at least 8 characters long, have both upper and lowercase letters, and have at least 1 number and symbol. For security reasons, you can't use the same password that you use to sign in to the Nest app to share your camera. -
Share publicly: This lets anyone with the link view your camera's stream. No password is needed.
